How does automatic document expiration work?

What is it?

Automatic document expiration applies when recipients do not complete the required actions in time. The document is then marked as incomplete and expires automatically. Once expired, recipients lose access to the document and can no longer sign it.

Two options are available:

1. Set a validity period You can set the validity period to any number of days between 1 and 365. Once you enter the number of days, the exact expiration date will be displayed below.

2. Set a specific expiration date In both options, you can also enable notifications to inform recipients of the upcoming expiration. An email will be sent to them 24 hours before the document expires.

Where can I find it?

You can set this up while sending a document. After clicking Create document, go to Additional options → Document expiration time.
